Grandma has loved to sew for as long as I can remember. When I was younger
(many many moons ago), I would come down here on summer vacations. There
were ladies in and out of here all the time. They would come for fittings,
drop off clothing that needed mended, or picking up things she already
had made or fixed.
Talk about straight pins everywhere....geesh!
That was grandma though!
We had to make sure we had shoes on whenever
we came into her sewing room. Grandma was a wonderful seamstress. As the
years went by, she lightened up on making clothes for other people. She
got into making aphagans, knitting, and crocheting. She got into quilting.
Jackets, Vests, quilts, tablerunners, tablecloths, wallhangings, etc. She
focused on quilting the last few years. She continued to sew but not like
she had before. The lastest craft item she was into, was making decorative
baskets out of ice cream pails. She got my sister into making them too.
Below are the instructions and pictures to make your own. She made quite
a few of these, sold some, but mostly gave them away. Most of what grandma
had ever made.....was given away!! That's the lady she was!
